My Story

Lawyering ate up a good chunk of my adult life.

But along the way there's also been jazz rhythm guitar, boomerang throwing (no catching), 3-Card Monte, hand drumming, cup stacking, busking, a bar mitzvah (not by choice), fencing, star throwing, washtub bass, commuting, Pop Warner football, one reasonably effective sleight-of-hand card vanish, a great many kidney stones, harmonica, 6th grade color guard, target archery, target blowgunnery, basketball, failing to learn American Sign Language and three foreign languages, guitar building, much napping,  high school senior class vice-presidency, changing many, many guitar strings, bad songwriting, even worse song-singing, yo-yo-ing, collecting guitars, pens, and folding rulers, going bald (also not by choice), open mics, knife sharpening, indoor fountains, DogsAndBears Studios (my production company), an unfinished manuscript, juggling clubs, torches, cleavers, 3, 4 and 5 balls and a hat, snorkeling (under water), veganism, multiple non-life-threatening surgeries - as the patient, hammock hanging, extreme armchair mountaineering, co-founding an animal welfare, rights and protection non-profit, visiting the Hirwa family of mountain gorillas in Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, spending week with the orphaned elephants at Sheldrick in Kenya, acquiring and discarding as much as possible, one legit near-death experience, child and puppy rearing, an on-going happy marriage, adopting a bonded pair of adult dogs, a progressive neurological disorder (which has earned me a handicapped parking permit, making it nearly worthwhile), safecracking, and mobiles.

In September 2014, inspired by living with two Arthur Bauman mobiles we brought into our home a some years back, I decided to give it a go.  I read books, watched videos, spent many dollars on all the wrong tools and materials, and went to work.

Many, many mobiles later, with more to come, and we're out of ceiling space.
